Instances where you cannot apply online:

    - You do not have an Irish driver number
    - You already have a valid driving test application in the same vehicle category

    - If you have recently applied for a learner permit it takes seven days to update on our system.

    PPSN number not accepted:

If you are having problems with your PPSN you can leave it out of your application as it is not mandatory to include it unless you are applying for a CPC test.

Line 2 of your address required:

If you do not have a line 2 in your address, please repeat line 1 of your address into line 2 and save these changes.

Error message “You have an open application”:

This can occur if you attempt to use the back button when completing your driving test application or if you exit and try to re-enter your application without having completed same. Please exit the application completely for one hour and you will be able to reapply.

If none of the above apply to you

If none of the above refer to you and you are unable to apply online, you can download an application form from our website; click here

I want to cancel/reschedule my test appointment

If you cannot sit your test on the date you have been given, you can cancel that test and apply for another one. However, if you do cancel the test, at present we cannot offer you the option to choose a specific alternative date or time and it is likely to be some time before we have another test slot available to you.

If you have cancelled two or more driving test appointments in the past or if you give us less than 10 days’ notice before your test appointment you will lose your fee and you will have to reapply and pay again.

If you are having difficulty completing the cancellation yourself, then please click here. If you do need to cancel your test, it is really important that you tell us as soon as possible. If you tell us early enough, we will be able to give your time slot to someone else who urgently needs it.
