Choosing a car with safety features not only offers protection in the event of a crash but could even prevent the crash altogether. Vehicle safety features can be divided into four main categories:
- crash protection
- vehicle control
- safety assist
- lighting and visibility.
If you are thinking about buying a car, whether new or used, you should first check the safety rating of the model of car you are considering.
The Euro NCAP (European New Car Assessment Programme) provides an independent assessment of the safety performance of some of the most popular cars sold in Europe by rating their performance in crash testing. Consumers can then compare the safety performance of similarly sized vehicles.
