Penalty points are applied to a current valid licence or permit 28 days after the issue of the notification. This is provided for in law and can't be amended.
Penalty Points are applied to your current valid driving licence or learner permit for three years and expire or are removed after that time. Where you don't have a current licence/permit during that period or are disqualified from driving, then that time will be added to the three years. A letter issues to you when the points expire.
To check if you've any penalty points on your driving licence or learner permit, please email NDLS at [email protected] to request a Driver Statement and make sure to include your full name, driver number, PPSN and date of birth. Alternatively, you can telephone 0818 700 800.
