If you've been disqualified from driving as a result of penalty points, by law you must surrender your learner permit, driving licence or foreign driving licence to the National Driver Licence Service (NDLS) within 14 days of the order starting by posting it to: The National Driver Licensing Service, P.O. Box 858, Southside Delivery Office, Cork.
You will then have to wait six months until your disqualification period has ended. At that time the NDLS will post your licence back to you.
Important: A penalty point disqualification period can't be served on a learner permit or driving licence that's out of date. In this case, the disqualification period will only start once a licence or permit is renewed. Equally, if you're disqualified for another offence within that six-month period, an additional disqualification period will apply.
