Ploughing Championships

Enjoy a fully interactive road safety experience.

Visit us at the National Ploughing Championships from 17 - 19 September 2024 at Ratheniska, Portlaoise, Co. Laois. The RSA will be located at Hub 1 - Supporting Safer Communities - in the Government of Ireland Village.

The village will feature almost 150 exhibitors from a variety of government departments and agencies, under the theme ‘Your Government, Your Community’.

Visitors to the event will have the chance to engage directly with government teams to learn about the latest supports, services, and policies they are interested in. 

What the RSA will be offering

Virtual Reality

Experience the RSA’s ground breaking interactive virtual reality series in our virtual reality pod and experience first hand the dangers of driving and texting, driver fatigue and drink driving.

RSA Roll Over Simulator

The simulator continues to be highly effective in convincing people on the importance of wearing a seatbelt. The simulation shows what it would be like if you were in a car which turned over in a collision, and how wearing a seat belt could save your life.

Road Safety Advice

Our staff will also be on hand to provide advice and and information on:

• Trailer towing

• Vehicle maintenance

• Tractor safety

• Licensing

• Professional training (CPC)

• Roadworthiness testing

• Digital tachographs

• Drivers hours

• Medical Fitness to drive

FlineBox interactive breathalyser stations

Visit the first interactive and connected breathalyser terminal (the “FlineBox”) which measures your alcohol level after you have taken a drink and helps you to make the right decision before getting back on the road. 

These breathalysers have an interactive digital screen that allow users to breathe through a straw device with the result then highlighted on screen showing whether the person is above or below the legal limit.

Please see the terms and conditions to our competition below:

  1. The Promoter is the Road Safety Authority, Moy Valley Business Park, Primrose Hill, Ballina, Co. Mayo
  2. Promotional copy and web copy form part of these rules and by entering this competition you agree to be bound by these rules.
  3. To enter at The Ploughing Championships, scan the QR code that can be found on the screen of the 12 Fline Box breathalyser units  found throughout the Government Village and our ShowBlock unit. Answer all the survey questions and supply us with you name and mobile number.
  4. You can enter as often as you like. Only one prize can be won per person.
  5. The Road Safety Authority will be bound by all data privacy guidelines and will not share or release any data to any third parties.
  6. This prize draw is open to all residents of the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland, except employees of The Road Safety Authority, their immediate families, their agents or anyone professionally connected with the promotion.
  7. This competition runs from September 17th until September 19th, 2024. The winners will be drawn on Friday the 27th of September 2024. On this day the winners will be contacted by phone to confirm their address details for prize delivery purposes only.
  8. The decision of the judges is final, and no correspondence will be entered into, by entering this competition you will be deemed to have accepted these terms and conditions.
  9. Any entry not in strict accordance with these terms and conditions will be deemed to be invalid.
  10. The winners will be notified via a call on their mobile phone on the 27th of September. Their address details will be requested for prize delivery purposes only. Failure to claim the prize within 3 attempts of us contacting you will result in forfeiture of the prize.
  11. No alternative prize will be offered.
  12. The Road Safety Authority reserves the right to amend, modify, cancel or withdraw this competition at any time without notice.
