Motorcyclists Urged to Bike Safe During High Risk Period

In the run up to the August Bank Holiday Weekend, the Road Safety Authority (RSA) and An Garda Síochána are urging motorcyclists to ‘Bike Safe’ during this high risk time for riders. They are also appealing to drivers to watch out for motorcyclists by looking once and looking again to make sure there are not motorcyclists in their blind spots.

Ministers Flanagan and Ross welcome improved operation of Garda Fixed Charge Processing System

The Minister for Justice and Equality, Charlie Flanagan TD, and the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport, Shane Ross TD, have welcomed the improved operation of the Garda Fixed Charge Processing System captured in the publication today of the Criminal Justice (Fixed Charge Processing System) Working Group’s 2017 progress report on the implementation of the Garda Síochána Inspectorate report, ‘The Fixed Charge Processing System. A 21st Century Strategy’.

Statement from Liz O’Donnell, Chairperson, Road Safety Authority (RSA) on passing of the Road Traffic (Amendment ) Bill 2017

As Chair of the RSA, I welcome the passing of the Road Traffic (Amendment ) Bill 2017 by both Houses of the Oireachtas. The extent of cross party support for the Bill reflects a long standing commitment by the vast majority of public representatives to support laws that improve road safety.

RSA and Gardaí Publish Mid-Year Review of Road Safety

The Road Safety Authority (RSA) and An Garda Síochána have today published a provisional review of road fatalities for the first half of 2018. The review shows that from 1 January to 30 June 2018, 78 people died on Irish roads in 73 collisions.
