Vehicle pre-use daily checks are a simple and effective way to spot potentially dangerous issues before vehicles are used. Employers and self employed people should have a system of routine daily checks in place to ensure that vehicles are in good working order before the start of a journey.
The Road Safety Authority in collaboration with the Health & Safety Authority and An Garda Siochána have developed a series of simple vehicle walk around posters, checklists and a video to highlight the importance of regular driver vehicle checks and to assist drivers in carrying out the checks. These are aimed at the most commonly found work vehicles and cover Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGVs), Vans and Light Goods Vehicles (LGVs) and Buses and Public Service Vehicles (PSVs).
A CD Rom entitled Driving for Work: A guide for Employers has also been produced in collaborationn with the Health & Safety Authority
