Volkswagen Group Ireland Limited recalls certain Audi – A4, A5, A6, A7, A8, Q5, Q7, Q8 and E-TRON passenger vehicles

JULY 6, 2021

Volkswagen Group Ireland Limited is carrying out a voluntary recall of certain Audi A4, A5, A6, A7, A8, Q5, Q7, Q8 and E-TRON passenger vehicles.

A safety issue has been identified whereby stress corrosion cracking on nuts from certain batches may result in the nut on the eccentric bolt of the rear-axle spring-link control arm breaking. This may change the axle alignment of the rear axle. This can be noticed by a misalignment of the steering wheel when driving straight ahead and by the vehicle pulling to one side when braking/accelerating. However, it is not impossible that the rear axle will move in the wrong direction, in an uncontrollable manner, at higher speeds.

There are 761 vehicles affected in the Republic of Ireland that were produced between 7 November 2019 to 16 April 2021.

What to do:

Once the current restrictions are eased and the dealers can reopen to the public Volkswagen Group Ireland Limited will write directly to all affected vehicle owners and will inform them of the recall and the next steps to be taken.

If you believe that your vehicle may be impacted by this recall, then you can contact Volkswagen Group Ireland Limited’s customer care on 1850 812 760 or alternatively email them on [email protected]
