Under Covid19 Level 5 Government restrictions effective from midnight on Wednesday 21 October, for six weeks, you can attend your scheduled driving test appointment provided you are an essential worker involved in the provision of essential services or essential retail outlets. You can view the list of essential services at Level 5 on

We are experiencing a high demand for driving tests at the moment. If you have submitted a driving test application we will be in touch with an appointment date, there is no need to contact us.

If you are an essential worker and require an urgent test in connection with that work, then you can request a test here.  

Annual Conference on Driver Distraction

The Road Safety Authority (RSA) hosted its 2014 International Road Safety Conference at Dublin Castle on Thursday 20th march 2014.  The theme of the conference was ‘Driver Distraction’ and ran from 9.30am to 3.00pm in the Main Conference Hall, Dublin Castle, Dublin 2.

Driver Distraction has become a leading cause of road traffic collisions, particularly with the rise in the use of in-car technologies and smart devices. This conference focused on the impacts of driver distraction, exploring the challenges presented by new technologies and ways to mitigate driver distraction.

The presentations addressed driver distraction and the effect on drivers from an academic, technological and personal perspective.  Speakers on the day included: Professor John D. Lee, University of Wisconsin, Professor Charles Spence, University of Oxford, Dr. Claudia Wege, Volvo, Francesco Mitis, World Health Organisation, Michelle Kuckelman, AT&T, Velma Burns, RSA, and Charlie Bird, Broadcaster, Journalist, and television documentary producer.
