Request an urgent driving test

Information for essential workers who need an urgent driving test.

Our customer service agents cannot manage driving tests over the phone or offer updates on waiting times, so we kindly ask you not to call for this information. Driving tests should be managed directly through MyRoadSafety.ie

Are you an essential worker who needs an urgent test?

If you are an essential worker who has already applied for a test and completed all of your driver training, just click on the 'Request urgent test' button below, fill in the form and we'll prioritise your application.

If there’s a high demand for driving tests at your chosen centre, it may be a number of weeks before we can send you an invitation to book an urgent test.

I've submitted the urgent test request form. What now?

Once your request for an urgent test has been submitted, there is no need to contact us. We will email you directly when driving test appointments become available and you will be invited to book a test. If you're chosen test centre is very busy you may have to wait a few weeks.

Haven't applied for a driving test yet?

If you have not yet applied for a driving test, you must first sign up or log into our customer portal MyRoadSafety.ie and add yourself to the waiting list. This video will show you how. After that, you can complete the urgent test request form to prioritise your application.

You must be eligible to sit your test

Even if you're an essential worker, you must have completed all required Essential Driver Training (EDT) sessions before sitting a test. Motorcyclists must have completed their Initial Basic Training (IBT) and hold a certificate of satisfactory completion.

Please see our Driving test eligibility webpage for more detailed information.
