Trade Management systems

Since May 2013 the NCTS has made it faster and easier for Motor Traders to book NCT tests at their local test centre, by introducing a voluntary Trade Management System. Find out more about signing up for this system.

So far, over 2,000 Motor Traders have signed up to the service, which provides them with:

  • Faster vehicle check-ins – no need to produce identification again or sign any declarations
  • Optional monthly statements that provide details on the vehicles tested, and their results
  • Regular updates on the latest changes to the NCT.

Motor Traders that sign up to the scheme may also get early access to potential new services, such as real-time information on available slots in their nearest Test Centre(s).

Registration is easy.

To get started simply visit the registration page on the NCTS site.

You will need to provide NCTS with a copy of one of the following documents:

  • VAT Number – The Tax Clearance Certificate
  • TAN Number – The Tax Clearance Certificate
  • Company Registration Number – Company Headed Paper
  • Personal Insurance Policy Number – Personal Car Insurance Policy
  • Motor Insurance Policy Number – Motor Traders Policy

The process should take no more than a couple of minutes.
NCTS will issue a Trader ID to all trade members who sign up for the scheme and enjoy a number benefits such as:

  • Self-service web portal showing your recent activity.
  • Ability to manage and substitute up to 9 vehicles for a periodic inspection and unlimited number of retests.
  • Smoother payment process.
  • Option to pay for multiple bookings at one time.
  • Substitute a vehicle at no cost in advance of the test.
  • Ability to add vehicles to a live cancellation list.
