Check it Fits

As many as 4 in 5 car seats checked at the RSA Check it Fits Service are found to be incorrectly fitted .

Over 21,000 seats have been checked since the service began in October 2013

Research from the Road Safety Authority’s Check it Fits service which checks child car seats and restraints nationwide for free, has revealed that 4 out of 5 child car seats are incorrectly fitted nationwide.

To address this problem the RSA’s Check it Fits service visit various locations throughout Ireland. At the service our expert checkers experts will be available to ensure car seats and restraints are correctly fitted.

Since October 2013 to December 2016, the RSA’s Check it Fits service checked over 21,000 seats and visited 500 locations throughout Ireland. Our experts are on hand to advise how to fix problems, demonstrate how to fit restraints correctly and answer any queries participants might have to avoid potential serious or fatal injury in the event of a collision.

The check generally takes between 10-15 minutes (depending on the adjustments required), is free of charge and offers parents and guardians reassurance that their child is safe while travelling in the car. We would encourage people to visit the ‘Check it Fits’ when it comes to your area and give yourself the peace of mind that your children are travelling safely.
